Good vacation destinations?
I wanted to get everyone's opinions here. We are getting married this year, and want to go on our honeymoon a few months after the wedding, in january or so... So, where to go? We were thinking of something tropical, as I have never been south of the state of Ohio.. I hear good and bad things. One person I know said that they loved Aruba but not Jamaica, because in Jamaica, you could not safely go off of the resort.. I heard someone else that disliked the Dominican Republic for the same reason but loved Hawaii.. where do ya go then!!??
Hawaii would be nice for the non-needing of a passport.. please give me your thoughts.

i've never been but my friend went to costa rica and absolutely loved it! they went on tours through the jungle and saw a bunch of monkeys and all the other touristy tropical things (eg; parasailing, surf lessons, etc)

Re: Good vacation destinations?
Hawaii is rough because of all the travel time and the time zone..jet lag can really be a drag!
what sorts of things do you like to do? Aruba is great for hanging out but there isn't much 'adventure' or hiking to do there (the caves are cool but don't take very long)
For more active adventurous types, Costa Rica or Belize are great...lots of wildlife and plenty of trails/rivers to explore.
If you are into watersports then you cannot go wrong with the Caribbean...

Re: Good vacation destinations?
We love going "off the beaten path" and really, a sanitized resort does not seem like much fun to me unless the whole point of going was to vegetate, which I do not want to do constantly. But at the same time, I fear the drama and fright that can come with being a foreigner in another country (especially if they know that you're American!) We like hiking, maybe ATVing, horseback riding, boating.. weird, these things we can really do in our own area! But it'd be great to enjoy sun and fun in the middle of the winter..

Re: Good vacation destinations?
hm maybe u guys could fly to Orlando, I would have the distinct pleasure of escorting you and your new husband to Cape Canaveral where you depart on a 1 week long cruise to the Bahamas or some where else exotic....
