Oh man.. that really hits home for me as a horse lover. I despise and loathe people who neglect horses like this.. for a paltry $1 a day, I can feed each of my horses on good quality hay, and they do not usually even need extra grain or supplements if not being worked.. Usually.. it just disgusts me to see people treating horses like this, and I do know that it takes some time for a hrose to become so emaciated that it has to be put down.. it is not a case of going away for the weekend and not feeding your horse..
What exactly were the reasons that they had to be put down? I am just curious; I have seen horses that were positively skeletal be brought back from the brink. although I am in No way judging you or the people who rescued them.. any one of them would be better off dead than with such a moron.
I looked at the pic closely, and at least one does look ribby.. were the ones beyond-repair old? I know that if their teeth are overgrown or overused due to age) they cannot properly chew food and therefore do not get its nutrients.. or were they just not being fed?
A horrific thing regardless.. that owner needs to be forced to shovel manure in 105 degree heat in the stall of a 2500-lb. polled hereford bull.
