He's wandering because he's getting used to a new home - no handling for at least a week and preferably not until he eats for you (don't try to feed for a week).


He needs a second hide in there too.

Too much wandering can be an indication of stress. I just adopted an adult female and she's been in her hide after exploring for about 1/2 an hour and rarely ventures out (she must at night, I never see her out, actually).

A snake you rarely see is a content snake, a snake training for the snake olympics is not.

He's a very pretty boy!
