Travel care
I study in one city and live there during term time, but live with my parents out of term time and will have to transport my snake home with me. I have got a good sized expanded polystyrene box which should maintain temperature for a while and stop sun exposure, but with air holes it will cool down and the journey is about 4 hours, should I use a heat pad that warms on air contact (says for reptiles on packet), a travel blanket (unknown max temp) or will it be ok without anything.
Thank you
Michael

Re: Travel care
It is hard to say for sure...as there are so many variables (car temp, outside temp, etc.). I suggest you go for a drive without the snake but with a thermometer. Set it up exactly as if you were going home then drive around for an hour or so (run errands, whatever) and see what the temps do...if to low then yes add a heat pad, if too high then add more holes.
Also, I suggest you put the snake in a pillow case with some crumpled paper (then place in the box). This will give your snake a tighter more secure feeling and keep his stress level down.
