i knew they were for more advanced keepers, but i didn't know if they tend to go off feed often or are hard that way. i guess my question is what is the hardest part about keeping them?

i find that feeding isnt a problem you just have to stick to a schedual and not deviate from it. emeralds require a slow feeding schedual. feed the adults once every 20 days and never feed more then two consecutive meals with out defication...the hardest part about keeping them is weather or not you have the time to stay on top of things like humidity, and proper feeding..these snakes are actually quiet rewarding once there requirements are met....just demand a little more

Re: 2 girls from our northern projects
I have found that the hardest part of keeping them is seeing a problem. Emeralds are really good at masking symptoms of a problem. Not saying that they are prone to problems, just that you may find a problem harder to detect.
Emerald keepers vary a bit in their methods to achieve the same goal. Which is to have healthy, comfortable animals. Location is usually the varient as to what is needed to achieve a proper environment for a neo-tropical snake. What works in a mostly warm, humid location, wouldn't necessarily work elsewhere.
