Please help - humidity

Ok after lots of fighting etc my digital wotsit has arrived. Installed today just come home from work and its reading 83% humidity.

I'd like to bring it down a little. Any advice on how. ANy tricks that avoid a dehumidifier?

Would a some live wood from an apple tree cause problems and should I stick it in the oven to dry it out? If so how long how hot?

I'd love some help here - feeling like a useless father!!

A fan blowing at the tank should help a little or a heat light temporally (their known for sucking out humidity)

New keepers have dealt with worse things than high humidity!

Where do you live? If your natural climate has high humidity, you'll probably just have to deal with it.

83% humidity isn't all that bad so long as the cage isn't visibly wet or moist. Remember, 'wet' and 'humid' are two very different things.

Oh yeah - forgot the details.

3ft x 2ft x 2ft Wood Viv wid glass front.
Lots of artifical foliage cos I know its a little big.
Two bark hides either end.
Water bowl.
All heat provided by ceramic 100W lamp over hot end.


current readings are

79.3F Cool, 91.4F Hot & 84% RH.

My baby is just over 3ft long and 7days into shed cycle. Hasn't eaten since 12th April day before I got him.

NO everything appears very dry although I did spill some water on his coconut substrate this morning during a water change. Would that make situation worse?

Ah and I discovered pooh too! Lush it was (NOT) thinking some reptile carpet in bright orange might be prefered as poo etc may stand out better.

Spilled water and bowel movements will temporarily raise your humidity.

83% is really nothing to worry about.

It will probably decline as things dry out.

How is the humidity in the UK? Doesn't it rain/mist constantly, or is that one of those common misconceptions?
