How long to leave F/T in the tub?
I have a BP that eats one adult mouse a week. Often he will skip a week. Sometimes he won't even wait until the mouse hits the aspen. The worst so far was he skipped two weeks.
My question is when he doesn't eat I leave the mouse in the tub until the next morning. How long is it safe to leave a "dead" mouse in the tub?
At normal temps it starts to SMELL in about 4 hours. By 8 hours it is kinda attached to the plate I leave it on. I suppose that if he didn't go for it by then its too late. RIGHT???!!!

First a couple of questions.
How old is your snakes and how much does it weigh?
Are you feeding on the same day every week?
What is your set-up like..temps, humidity, hides and so on.
Now for your answer. I will leave them over night but if its not gone by morning I throw it away and try a live mouse instead of P/K that normally does the trick

Fluffy is an 06/06, I have never weighed him, but he seems to shed every 6 weeks and is growing nicely. Definitely not dehidrated or "thin".
I feed him every friday at about 6pm. He is usually awake and gives me the "look" when I slide his tub out of the rack.
Temps are 90.1 to 90.6 on the warm side and 79-81 on the cool side. Humidity is between 49 and 61, depending on how often I open up the tub. When it is low below 51 I spray water on the aspen. When I change the water it usually sloshes and that will raise the humidity to about 70 but it drops down to 60 in a few hours. Ther is on 8 oz. heavy plastic dog water bowl (he likes to bathe in it once in a while). I used to have two identical hides but he kept turning them over and he totally ignors them. (so I took them out.) I could put them back in, but he would fit them very snuggly now (maybe too small now).

None right now, but when I get home I'll put the old ones back in.

I have noticed that a lot of pictures of rack systems that do not have any hides in them, I assumed it was ok to not have hides when you have a tub. Guess not, oh well, Fluffy will have his hides this afternoon.

Depends on the size tub and type and the snake you have in it. My baby rack doesn't have hides the tub is small enough to offer that secure feeling they look for. If your tubs are clear as mine are, then hides just offer a dark place to hide. if you us an ARS tub their gray and dark so the animal feels secure. It all depends. But most people that use tubs and not a rack will offer two hides just like in a VIV set-up..
