Sperm retention in bps

I know it happens, just interested in reading up on it. Has anyone experienced it first hand here?

He got a clutch of Mojaves and Pastels together, I believe...

I'll have to ask again and see if he can shed some light on the situation.

From what I've read BP's retain sperm for longer periods of time ( sometimes months) when kept at cooler breeding temps. Hope this helps.

I had a female lay 2 good eggs that was bred to my Genetic Stripe. She laid two weeks ago and the last time that she was bred was April of 06. I couldn't believe it and the eggs are doing fine!

That is awesome.... so that would be 13 months. Very interesting. Appreciate the contribution. That is the kind of info I have been wanting to read about.

I am interested in this also for this reason... Say I breed Het x Het one year and am lucky enough to get a visual male. The following year I breed him back to mom and have a viable clutch. If there is the possibility of a 13 month sperm retention how would I know if the normal looking offspring are 100% Hets or 66%'ers. Is this a concern anyone else has? I would hate to sell something as 100% and not have it prove out.

I dunno, good thought, I guesss people get screwed, even by good guys somtimes in that sense, but probably not very often,
