Stuck Shed?
Zim shed just recently, about a week ago. I went to take her out to weigh her before feeding and noticed she has some stuck shed on her back. Her eyecaps and tail are fine, but there is a long strip of shed still clinging to her back. Also the scales look wierd. Like, some are shifted looking and the shed is inbetween them. I don't want to pull the shed off for fear of hurting her, but what can I do? I can get some pictures up tonight.

Re: Stuck Shed?
You never want to pull dry, stuck shed off your snake. Try soaking her for a bit then letting her slither through your hand with a damp facecloth in it. You can also put her in a damp pillowcase and her moving around will work the shed off. Just make sure she doesn't get chilled. Sometimes just a light misting and popping her enclosure humidity up for the day will get that shed off naturally.

Re: Stuck Shed?
Try soaking her in a tub of luke warm water(no warmer)(like with a bp,no higher than half the height of the snake) and put a cloth in there too and then out the snake in there for about 30 mins or so.
i did that with my bp and it came off in 10 minutes.the snake will go through the cloth rubbing the stuck skin off.make sure there is holes in the top for ventilation.but nto big enough so the snake can escape..Dry the snake off by holding some kitchenpaper in your hand and letting the snake slide through it.hope this helps.

Re: Stuck Shed?
I misted the cage down and humidity is up to 50%. I have work at noon so when I come home from work later tonight, I can check to see if she's shed whats left. If she hasn't, I'll soak her in luke warm water.

Re: Stuck Shed?
if soaking does not work you could always rub a little mineral oil on the dry skin, it should come off then.

Re: Stuck Shed?
Well after a few days of trying to let her get it off herself, I took her into the bathroom and soaked her in luke warm water. I got all of it off as far as I could see. She's definatly smoother and her color in that spot is not as dull.
Thanks everyone!
