Before you go out and get conned into spending a fortune at your local chain pet store do some reading here in the threads on caging, husbandry, etc. There are a lot of ways to set up a lovely and appropriate home for your snake that is both cost effective (look Robin I didn't say "cheap" LOL) but more importantly will provide your snake with a home that has stable temps and humidity. We see a lot of people here that get talked into buying all sorts of things they don't need or won't really work when a trip to the dollar store, Walmart, etc. would have done better.

Also consider, while you have this time, where you want to get your snake from. While pet stores are convenient they are often not a great place to get a snake from. A lot of "bush babies" are coming into the pet stores now (baby ball pythons just unpacked from Africa). They look cute and all but aren't well started and are very difficult for newcomers to get them going properly. Good reptile shows, reputable breeders....that's the way to go really. A nice normal male BP from a breeder isn't going to cost you much if anything more than PetCo even including shipping (our PetCo is currently selling unsexed normals for $79.99). The 07's are starting to hatch so personally I'd wait and get a lovely normal male from a good breeder later in the year (if you are looking purely for a pet snake).
