Lily: first feeding with me.
I decided to try out little Lily and see if she was hungry, b/c she was in her hidespot with her head poking out (the "hunger pose" as I call it..) Was she hungry, I wondered..? Well, here was my answer!
See-through snake?

Is that a rat? How big is she / how much does she weigh?

Re: Lily: first feeding with me.
I would say that rat was a bit big for her . Is that they size she usually eats?

Re: Lily: first feeding with me.
I got her recently. The rat is a rex, so its hair makes it look bigger than it really is I guess. It was the size of an adult mouse; which in no way would be too big for her. She had no problems eating it.. it was definately not wider than her thickest girth width.

Re: Lily: first feeding with me.
Maybe it is just the way the pictures appear. The first makes her head look huge compared to the snakes body...and the last with all the stretching makes it all look too big.
But I have been wrong before in judging size

Re: Lily: first feeding with me.
It's OK.. looking out for a BP is great in my book regardless.. better to be wary than sorry
It was a *tad* on the larger size and I would not have fed her anything larger. I do raise my own rats, so at times I have to either feed two smaller items, or one good-sized rat.. but it is better than having to adapt to what a pet store would offer. At least I know to blame if it is awhile between litters

Dang, I missed the thread first time round! I am so glad she fed for you. She can be such a brat sometimes! She's never had a dark colored one before. She did eat rat hoppers for a while, then switched to mice. Glad to see she is back on the rats. Yay I am happy and finally at ease!
