    Leaking waterbottles

Sooo, my rats tub seems to always be really humid, i noticed the water bottle leaks and figured that was it, so temporarily i put one of the mouse waterbottles their, barely leeks so its better, i havnt seen to much humidity build up...I went to the store to buy another one, figured i would spend the extra money to get a good one, so i bought one with this new technoligy i gues that "Never Leaks" but, it leaks like a waterfall....Is it just me and waterbottles dont get along..or does anyone els share this dilemma? anyone know of a decent waterbottle that wont leak? Though i do plan to get those nozzles sold online for the breeding racks..

I tride to find some pieces to make them at home depot but i couldnt find anything, ill just have to order a couple.

    Re: Leaking waterbottles

I always make sure to fill the bottle until there's actually water over the rim, and then quickly put the nozzle screw-on part on..
The best ones I have found are glass, with metal guards over the plastic screwing part.. chew-proof!

    Re: Leaking waterbottles

I bought the "spring loaded" bottles today and they have no leaking yet. I always squeeze the bottle with the lid on, set it on the wire mesh with the nozle in the tub and then let go. No leaks that way

    Re: Leaking waterbottles

The more water in the bottle the less they will leak. I always keep mine top off and they don't leak much at all. If the water bottles are half full they leak way more. The water causes suction so the more water the more suction the less leaking. Hope this helps.

    Re: Leaking waterbottles

Are they the metal ball type? If so I've had this problem with new bottles. I've always fixed it by washing them with really hot water or running them through the dishwasher. Seriously try it I bet it works. larry

    Re: Leaking waterbottles

Yea its the plastic bottles with metal ball and tip, thanks for all the advice, im gong to try it all lol. I was planning to hook up hoses to all of them connected to 1 really big water jug to keep them full, and i would also only have to fill 1 jug instead of 4 or 5, this would keep them full, so you think that will help the leaking with the "Top it off" method?

    Re: Leaking waterbottles

I use these in the 8 oz size. The plastic is hard plastic, and I've never had a chewing problem from any of mine. I get them from Petsmart:

    Re: Leaking waterbottles

The ones I got are working great so far. No leaks and they were cheap. I bought the middle size since the top fits the 2 liter bottles I like to use. It is a ball with a spring behind it. I never have had chewers since they are in a rack system and the only part they can get to is the metal tip

    Re: Leaking waterbottles

Used to have the same leaking problem, I replaced all my bottles with spring loaded bottles like those http://www.ferretstore.com/sp-61971.html I use the 8 OZ for my rats and 4 OZ for my mice and leaks are a thing of the past.

    Re: Leaking waterbottles

the only time i have problems with my bottles is if they arn't hanging level. If they are straight then they don't leak.
