Who is the Stupidest BP Breeder?
Hi!! Yes, that would be me.
I feel obligated to post this, so everyone will realize I should be hit in the head with a whiffle bat on occasion.
I've bragged repeatedly on the Nature's Spirit incubator. I've even termed it "idiot-proof" on occasion. I loved how simple it was to set up and run last year, and it was perfect.
So this year I plugged it in, and got it running. But everytime I check the thermometer(the indoor/outdoor with humidity sensor thing) it keep recording WILD temp fluctuations! It would have the upper as 90 and the lower at 78! And I had it set just like last year at 88F. How could it be getting to 75F?!
So after letting it run for a day or so, it still recorded the same wildly swinging temps and I decided there must be a problem with the incubator, maybe with the thermostat! Grrr... I only used it ONE season!! So I called up Nature's Spirit to see if they could help me out. I was polite and they were as helpful and nice as ever! The nice patient man suggested I try unplugging everything for a minute or so, then re-plugging it in to see if that would reset whatever must be malfunctioning. I thought, Well.. that's simple enough, like a computer rebooting I guess... so I thanked him and came home to try it.
Well. Now comes the stupid part. I went to unplug the cords... and found out the thermostat was plugged into the power supply exactly like last year. But I had neglected to plug the heat tape cord into the thermostat, and hadn't plugged the fan in either. So I had in essance, been using the expensive thermostat as a thermometer. Yess.... giggle, guffaw, and laugh away. It was without a doubt the stupidest thing I've ever done.
The Nature's Spirit incubators are probaly idiot-proof except when used by exceptionally stupid idiots like me.
Thank you to Nature's Spirit for their great help!! And I hope this made everyone feel a little better about their day.
I'm going to go cuddle a snake and think about how my brain is MUCH larger than his.
