    Importing plants

Does anybody know the legality of bringing a few plant cuttings or live moss back into the U.S. from Mexico? I'll be in the Mayan jungle in a week and a half, and I'd like to bring back a couple of zip top bags of moss or exotic plants for my terrarium.
What are these mojavas I keep hearing so much about?

If I don't get a reply, just to be safe, maybe I'll put the cuttings between a couple of slices of bread and bring them back in sandwich form.

I wouldn't try it bringing non-native plants here is what gave the south Kudzu the devil plant. Besides I think its a felony.

    Re: Importing plants

I concur with Ed...trying to bring in non-native plants or animals without the proper permits is illegal.

LOL, I won't try it if it's illegal. Just thought it be cool for the tropical moss and a few plants in my vivariums to be from cultures I brought back from my vacation to Mexico. I still like the sandwich idea. Bread, mustard, tomato, ham, cheese, bread, moss, tropical cuttings, bread. Sounds delicious.

You can order stuff like that they use it for Poison Dart frog setups

Yeah, I have some and I ordered a few more. Just thought it would be cool to bring my frogs back a couple souviniers from the jungle.

    Re: Importing plants

Yeah, I've thought about that. My plans were to wash the plants and moss off, then grow them out in a seperate area until I could take clipping from them to add to the vivariums. I also put all my new plants under UV lights for a couple of days to kill bacteria and mold. Still, I'm not going to do it for both reasons. If I'm going to get arrested for smuggling something back from Mexico, it's not going to be a piece of moss

I'm talking about a suitcase full of Spider monkeys, of course
