How do you keep records?
I'll be filling a 40 slot hatchling rack soon, and wanted to know how you guys keep your records.
Last year i had 12 babies which was easy, i had index cards with thier little numbers on top.
I see stickers on tubs and stuff, i just wanted to see what other options i could have.

Degi software

Re: How do you keep records?
I like lots of organization and am anal so I use a computer. Here is the software I use it can track everything you will ever need and will print out cage cards with all the animals details. It also has a lot of reports to track non-feeders, breeding status, growth, etc.

Just one of many ways that you will hear about

I used to use Degei but with so many animals it becomes impractical. For feeding/sheds/etc, I use index cards.

I use spred sheets in excel. I keep a pad and paper in the room for little things that pop up when I am checking on everyone like sheds and such. I probably dont have the most efficient system but it works for me and I track purchase price what and when they eat when they shed, monthly weights and sale prices.

I am like you in that it hard to input everything by hand I don't track sheds and defecates or uriates. and I am hoping to get one of their hand scanners and label printers next year to help cut down on this.

Re: How do you keep records?
why not keep records for your personal collection for the entire time you have them this way you can compare notes with new or exsiting snakes if needed.
and with babies give the cards to the buyer for their own records.
just an idea...
edit: sorry thought the thread topic was "how long do you keep records"....

Degei has the option of printing out feeding records, breeding records and so one or you can convert them to PDF and burn them to a CD..to send to customers.
