    Feeder Keeper

    Hi, quick question:
I've got a mouse (and last month a rat), in a temporary home (5.5ish plastic fish tank w. lid) while my ball is being picky/catching up.
Will the mouse (or rat) be fine with hamster food and a hanging water bottle?

Yes but not for long...most hamster food is alfalfa based and junk adders nothing good. If you plan on feeding within the next week or 2 should be ok...if not I would go buy a bag of rat/mouse lab block food. You can also see Becky's feed mix (in the sticky section) that has a lot of household foods you can also feed.

yeah, it's a typical hamster mix
the hamster gets some fresh veggies/fruits to supplement
should I offer the same to the rat/mouse?
I dont want to buy another type of food, but it may be a few weeks of housing
is there something else/in addition to I can offer?
(boiled egg, carrots, apple, cheese etc.)

If you got some dog food without red dye, that would work better.

fruits and veggies would do too.

THANKS! I just assumed what you can't feed a hamster, you can't feed a rat/mouse.

    no, no
we've gone through a few different animals now
a rat before, now a mouse

since Osiris is "catching up" from me offering too large of feeds, we're in a holding pattern
