Job interview... any tips?
Hey everybody!
So I have an interview tomorrow for which I am quite nervous. I am applying for an administrative assistant job for some big wigs at a bank. I am interviewing with 4 people (eep!).
So far I bought a new outfit and a nice binder full of resumes and letters of recommendation.
Can anyone give me a few tips on giving a good interview?
Thanks in advance and wish me luck!

Um... let's see if I remember some of the tips that I've been told...
-Make eye contact
-If you have any visible tattoos(like on your arms,) you should wear something to cover them up.
-LISTERINE! No one likes bad breath.
well, that's all I've got.

Re: Job interview... any tips?
Heath posted a similar thread a few months ago and here was my advice from that thread ....
As someone that has interviewed, hired, and fired many many people I can offer you this ...
1. Don't smell ... if I can smell you (BO, breath, smelly hands, etc) you're cooked.
2. Be relaxed and friendly ... the interviewer doesn't want to be there even more than you don't, so being a bore will make it even more miserable.
3. If you're asked a question and don't know the answer, don't struggle, BS, or stall ... just say that you don't know.
4. Show that you want to do well and help the company succeed ... what you know is secondary.
5. Don't try and play it cool .. if you're super excited by the opportunity, show them that ... it will help ... eager is a good thing.
6. Be honest.
7. Don't worry about the winter coat ... IT people aren't generally know for being fashion bugs.
Good luck ... smile, smile, smile!!!
There was also a lot of great advice from others in the thread as well ... here is the link ... http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/s...6&page=1&pp=10
Good luck and keep us posted on how you do ... we'll be rootin for ya!!!

hehe, thanks!
I do have a tattoo on my wrist. I was planning on covering it with gauze and wearing a long sleaved shirt. Sound appropriate?

Dress REEEEEEAALY nice. And if you have any piercings, take em' out. Look professional. If they see you took the time to look nice, then you'll seem very interested in the job.

Just bought a white long sleeved shirt, a blue tie, and some nice shoes...
Question... would a neatly trimmed goatee be okay or should I shave it?

Re: Job interview... any tips?
Read up on the bank...financial reports, goals, mission statements, company history, etc. Sprinkle this info into your meeting - this shows they you are as interested in them as they are in you.
As an AA you are there to help them...so answer questions in that fashion.
Also, ask questions about what they want or expect again leads to interest.
Good Luck

Normally I would say it doesn't really matter...but since this is a bank and most are very old school...I recommend you shave.

listen carefully, don't fidget, and listen.
oh, and listen!
try to breathe deep and relax right before....a relaxed, confident candidate will always come off better than a nervy one - as long as they know what they are talking about and don't bs
