    Ultrasound results!

Hey! I had a friend do ultrasounds on the three females that are being bred this year. My Poss Het Albino had 38mm follicles, NF2 had 11mm-11.5mm follicles, and we didn't see anything in NF1 (but the monitor wasn't totally working right, so she said to just keep breeding her until she's visually gravid because it doesn't mean anything that she didn't see anything in her). So (obviously) none of them have actually ovulated yet (even though the Poss Het is pretty close). I was able to see some gravid girls in person and I totally see what I'm looking for and the difference between that and my girls.

So, now that I REALLY know what I'm looking for (makes a huge difference when you can see it in person and actually feel the snake and turn it over instead of just looking at pics), I'm obviously going to continue to put them together. So NF1 and NF2 went back to the other breeder's place and he's going to hold onto them. My Poss Het Albino female and my Het male are together right now. At least now I know what to look for and how far the 2 are (one being like a month or so away from ovulation, and the other still being a ways a way).

Hopefully I'll still get some clutches this year! Just thought I'd post this update!

    Re: Ultrasound results!

Eric, that sounds great. Congrats on your Poss. Het. Albino. If you wanted to try your hand at palpating, I would try her. They should be very easily felt, and you can probably count how many are in there. Also, with follicles that large, I would expect her to ovulate in the next 7-10 days. Keep going on those other two, they still have a shot.
    Congrats,

    Re: Ultrasound results!

Thanks Tim! I'll try palpating her after I separate her and my Het Male.

Really? 7-10 days? Sweet! I'll be watching!

I have a question: If a male isn't put with a female for a month or two and then reintroduced, will he still mate? I was checking my records and it says that the last time they were togther was in February. I haven't seen them lock this time yet (usually it only takes a few hours). Should I just try again next week or what? Thanks!

    Re: Ultrasound results!

    Eric,
With follicles that size, she is very close to ovulating and may not have let the male get near her. Balls can store sperm for quite a lnog time, and she should still have viable eggs even though she hasn't bred in a month. Keep an eye on her, and I'll be looking for some ovulation pics in a week or so.
    Good Luck,

That's probably it. That's good to know!
