    recent Animal Plastics orders?

I ordered an AP Economy rack 4 weeks ago this coming monday. Their estimates all say "allow 2 to 4 weeks for delivery".

Well it hasn't shipped yet and monday is 4 weeks so they have blown that estimate. Now how did I KNOW that would happen?

Has anyone ordered recently from AP? how long did it take to receive?

    Thanks.

    Re: recent Animal Plastics orders?

I ordered a rack a couple of years ago, and the shipment was delayed a few weeks. I think at the time he was having supplier issues with the plastics people. I thought he was going to switch suppliers, but it may be something else. Either way, they were pretty good at responding to my inquiries. Have you called or emailed them about the delay?

Have you tried contacting them about your order status? It's never a bad idea to ask what current lead times are when you're dealing with a product that has to be manufactured when the order is placed (opposed to something kept "in stock"). My experience with them lately has been anywhere from 4-8 weeks post-order, but I've also placed some large orders with several customizations and additions.

Drop Mark or Ali a line or give them a call - they've always been extremely cordial & easy to deal with in my experience.

    Re: recent Animal Plastics orders?

I haven't contacted them yet, I was going to wait until Monday when it is actually 4 weeks from date of order. I did ask when I ordered and was told 3-4 wks instead of the normal 2-4 wks, but it was still within 4 wks. A bit too optimistic I guess.

I was just wondering if they are exceptionally busy right now or if others are having their orders take longer than usual. Or maybe it IS usual for them to take over a month.

    Re: recent Animal Plastics orders?

I know from speaking with several other keepers who have recently placed volume orders that they're pretty busy right now...4 weeks is pretty typical.

I'd bet that several popular cage manufacturers are swamped this time of year (baby season + tax refunds = cage orders).

That's fine if they are that busy, I just wish they would be more realistic with their delivery estimates then.

If 4 weeks is typical, well they already missed that window, we're looking at 5 or more now.

Also, if you look on their terms page, it clearly states "Customer will be informed of estimated lead times when placing their order." Their invoices may say please allow 2-4 weeks for delivery, but it never hurts to ask as well!

    Re: recent Animal Plastics orders?

They answered my email this late on a friday. Apparently it is being boxed up now but won't ship until Monday.

So it looks like depending on how long FedEx takes, it will end up being about 4.5 weeks. Not bad I guess.
