whistling snakes

my ball whistles when he is excited.... this is a recent development and it has me slightly concerned... now like i said he only does this when he is really active... but what would cause it?

Snakes usually whistle for one of two reasons: loose piece of skin in their nostril, or an Upper Respiratory Infection.

The loose skin is pretty common, but it's still a good idea to keep an eye out for an URI. Look for mucous, drooling, or a raised head for extended periods of time. If any of these signs show up or if the whistling gets worse, I'd recommend a vet visit ASAP.

I noticed after carmen had shed,she did have a slight whistle for a bit when i handled her,but i soaked her in luke warm water for 10 minutes, she swam around and loved it.after that i heard no whistle.as above,just keep an eye out for a URI and if it gets worse, get it to a good herp vet as soon as possible.

Yeah, I would go to a vet, if there is not any retained shed causing it.. if it is the signs of an early RI, the best thing would be to go to a qualified herp vet.
