Can it be used as an incubator?
I just picked up a small Sterilite tub with a handle for use in transporting my corn snake to class next thursday. I was wondering if down the road, could it be used as an incubator? It measures 8'' long, 6'' wide, and 6'' high. Very small.

Re: Can it be used as an incubator?
yes. put some heat tape connected to a thermostat under it and you have yourself a leopard gecko egg incubator.

Woot! It does have several air holes in it. Would I have to cover those, or leave them be?

Cover them, i'd put a few inches of water in the bottom, and use some kind of rack to raise the egg container.

jamesw, we're talking about an incubator for leo eggs, not bp eggs.
one very tiny hole in each side of the incubation container is okay for a little air flow, other than that you will want to cover any other holes.

Mmk. Thankies. So basically I would cover up all but one hole on each side, get a thermometer and hydrometer, thermostat, flexwatt, and some vermiculite and I have myself a leo incubator.

yes on everything except i personally recommend using either a mix of perlite and vermiculite or just plain perlite.

Where can you get perlite? A garden store perhaps?

i have gotten it at both lowe's and walmart before. just make sure not to get the kind that has additives or miracle grow type stuff in it--you want the plain kind.
