I am thinking about getting an 100 watt moonlight bulb and re-placing it with my 75 watt because i am having trouble maintaing the cool side temp, which is about 75 - 78. And for the hides he has never actually been in one yet he is still on right behinf his hide not in it on. He actually havent moved in a long time now.
Try placing the probe INSIDE the warm hide. It can be many degrees warmer in there than it is in the surrounding air. The temps inside the hide are the ones you want to regulate as that is where the snake would be spending most of its time. Good chance it's not going into the hide because it's too hot in there.

Just to check...without changing anything else...tuck the probe inside the hide and let it sit for an hour or so...and see if the temps read any differently.
