i saw pictures of some cheap ones here once before but now i can't find the thread so i was wondering if anyone knows where i can get a cheap, but fairly reliable temperature gun?

Got mine from Pro Exotics, the mini there is like $25-30 if I remember correctly.

if you have a hobby store with rc cars they sell small handheld ones for like 25

Pro exotics are good except the 2 cheaper models have a 1:1 distance to spot ratio. This means to get an accurate reading you have to have the temp gun right up next to the spot you are measuring. For instance, holding it 12" away it measures an area 12" in diameter.

The more expensive model PE2 has a 6:1 distance to spot ratio so at 12" it measures a 2" diameter spot.

I just got a used PE2 off Ebay for $19 shipped. It has a laser target spot as well. Goes for $45 new.
