There's no snooze button for my Duck Alarm...

In this drainage pond outside my apartment building on-campus, live 2 ducks: a male and a female.

Every morning lately, I've been roused from sleep by the male QUACKING his head off. I'm not talking about quiet little quacks--he really belts it out! Usually it's not a problem, as he usually does it around 7AM or so, which is when I get up anyways...

But as all typical college students, I was trying to sleep in today. Mr. Mallard started his quacking at 6:30 AM and didn't STOP until 7:30. And I swear that as soon as I grumpily dragged myself out of bed, he decided to swim away with his lady and not quack anymore.

Rocks work REALLY well when trying to get rid of ducks. He starts quacking, throw a rock in his direction...problem solved.

Well, I live on the third floor--with a screwed-in screen So even if I wanted to throw something out of the window, I couldn't. Even then, I'd be afraid of hitting the duckies--and as annoying as Mr. Mallard has been, he doesn't deserve to be hit with a rock.

I'm just anticipating when the quiet peeper activity that's currently going on turns into a cacophony of frogs so loud that I can't sleep. It happens every Spring so far--and I threaten (jokingly of course) to poison the drainage pond to get RID of the peeping nuisances... but instead, I grumble, shut my window and deal with the stuffy room for the night.

Gotta love Spring and all of the twitterpated animals

Ah, the peepers! We are lucky ehre that the woods is a bit far-off from the house; you go back there at nightfall and they are deafening! Wow, that such a noise comes out of such a teeny little frog..
In the summer when we try to leave our window open in the bedroom, there are sooo many birdies out there squawking.. sleeping in entails keeping our loud fan on and covering the window with a nice thick blanket..

Re: There's no snooze button for my Duck Alarm...

Oh, so I was looking out my window tonight and I saw Mr. and Mrs. Mallard floating around in the little outlet of the drainage pond (and last weekend, when I was walking to the parking lot Brian's car was parked in, they were hanging out in one of the drainage lines that run alongside the road). They're usually in the "main" part of the pond.

I snapped a few photos--but I couldn't really do them much justice through a dirty window from so far away--but I tried to get their mugshots!

So that you dont have to feel so alone. I found the list of the top 10 most annoying alarm clocks. Sadly, ducks are not included. BUT THEY SHOULD BE! http://www.uberreview.com/2006/03/to...rm-clocks.htm/

Woah! Some of those alarm clocks looks AWESOME I'm a notorious snooze-button hitter (we're talking like, hitting it for an hour)...so an alarm clock that makes it impossible for me to do it more than once or twice is an AWESOME idea... too bad the ones I actually liked were prototypes or sold out of their vendors
