    Re: albinos

I suck at the whole geneics aspect but I don't think either situation would creat an albino. I think you would get 100% Hets........

As far as yield goes, I don't think sex has anything to do with it. Think its based purely on percentages...

    So an

    male Het-Albino X Albino Female

should produce the same as a

    female Het-albino X Albino Male

At least thats what I thought.....

heres a pretty cool site. Scroll over the results section to see what would produce what.

All your offsprings would be 100% Het Albino, which mean that they all would carry the gene for this recessive gene but would not show the trait (They would look normal)

This will help you visualize little better http://www.ballpython.ca/what_get/recessive.html

    Re: albinos

I will add that it depends on if you want more Albinos or faster Albinos. Let me explain. If you get an Albino male and normal female, it would take at minimum two years to get female to size. First breeding is Albino x Normal, which gives you some 100% Het Females to grow up. Grow up Het females for minimum 2 years and breed back to Dad (Albino). You get Albinos. This is at best 4 years, but probably 5 an maybe 6 years. This way also gives you more Het females to breed to Dad, thus a chance at more Albinos.
    Scenario 2:
Normal male and Albino Female. 2 years to get female to size (best scenario). By the time she is eady, he will be ready. Normal to Albino gives you 100% hets. Grow up Het male from breeding and breed his first season (best scenario). Het male back to Albino Mom and you could have Albinos in 3 years. Downfall = only one female to breed to Het male the first year.

In conclusion, what is your goal? Fast Albinos or more Albinos. Let me know if something in here doesn't make sense and I will try to go into more detail.

Very good explanation Tim. I wish I had read this type of post when I first started. Boy have I made some bad moves over the years . . . .
