    Still Usable

I got my order of rats today and 2 bags came in thawed, I'm wondering if I can still use them, they were still cold.

    Re: Still Usable

First I would ask the vendor to replace them as they didn't put enough cold packs in the box (unless it is your fault and you left them outside or something?)

If you are stuck with them and they were still very cold they should be OK to feed immediately but I wouldn't try refreezing them.

I had an order come in thawed and I tried to feed one off since I had no other rats on hand, first and only regurge to thisday. I would get them replaced ASAP

The money has already been refunded for them, and the vendor admitted it was his mistake, they got shipping zones switched up. I'm just wondering if I can salvage a couple bags of rats.

    Personally, I wouldn't risk it.

    Re: Still Usable

i know people have shared that they will thaw a prey item, try to feed it and then refreeze it again.

but my concern would be the amount of time they were thawed. personally, my snakes/pets are worth too much to me to risk it.

I've refrozen as long as they weren't thawed out for long (but only refreeze once). I have also kept thawed prey items in the fridge for a few days.

I wouldn't even do that. The rats that arrived here thawed were either monitor food or went into the freezer until I could get them to a raptor recovery. Its not worth the risk trying to come out ahead on the deal since you could just as likely fall behind
