So, after waiting forever I swear (exactly 30 days after her pre lay shed) I got up on Sunday morning to this sight:



I was so glad she finally laid. So far we have 5 nice healthy eggs. They should all be normals though the male had quite the abberrant pattern. I'm just glad to know that the female will do fine with breeding. Hopefully I'll be able to breed her with a pastel or het pied male next year.

I'm glad to have found this forum. Nice to be able to chat about something I love with people that actually care.

Thanks, I think she's pretty sweet. I love the light brown spots she has on her back. She's also a great eater, which I appreciate! Now if I could just get the male to eat a bit more I'd be happy. I'll post a pic of him when I get home tonight.

The only thing I'd change about Six is her attitude. She can be a bit....grumpy at times. Once she's out of her cage though, she's usually fine, unless she's hungry!

Congratulations! Looks like a nice clutch and a nice protective mother. If you think she's normally a little grumpy, I bet she's a handfull now.

I tell ya, we were ready for fireworks when we took the eggs from her. She only hissed a bit though and was quite docile otherwise. Once back in her cage she was happy to get a drink and take a small f/t rat too, which made me happy. I considered letting her incubate but at the moment I'm not sure what the humidity would be in her cage. Figured it would be better to be safe (besides, I obsess about the darn eggs!)

A lot of times the mothers are ok if you just handle them gently and watch their head when you pull them off of the eggs. Some might get hissy and act they are going to strike. Just take a towel and cover their head and everything will be ok. Congrats on your first clutch nothing beats hatching out your first babies.

Here's a picture of the father of the clutch. Both are nice snakes so I'm hoping for some nice babies even if they are all normals. Of course, it's good to know that I already have homes for most of them and I don't mind keeping any nice females that may pop up.
