I want to breed BP
I can't take importing for re-sale anymore. I'm just too tired. I'm from Bangkok, Thailand btw. The weather in here is hot all year. Winter time in Bangkok is around 27-28 celcius(mid 80 farenhite???) So I think the Ball Python should be fine breeding in here without much extra heat source lol We do have high humidity though, don't know it's a good thing or not.
Please tell me honestly that my plan is making sense or not, ok? Feel free to point out which morph I should add or deduct. Or if I project the price on each morph unrealisticly, please let me know.
For morph breeder, I plan to get 06 male with 04 or 05 female. In theory, 06 male and 05 female should be able to produce baby in 2008, am I correct?
I'm planning to get...
06 male Super Pastel ($2,000-$3,000)
06 male Bumblebee ($2,500-$3,000)
06 male Pastel (already in Thailand from Don Kaye)
06 male Pewter ($2,500-$3,500)
05 female Pewter (I already got a good deal on this)
05 female Spider (I already got a good deal on this)
05 female Pastel ($1,000)
05 female Pastel ($1,000)
05 female Pastel ($1,000)
05 female Pastel ($1,000)
six 04/05 female common
I will take 4 morphs (Super Pastel, Bee, female Pewter, and Spider) with my next month shipment. Then I'll take female Pastel and try to find male Pewter later with the following shipments. Just wondering though, what morph do I expect if I breed Pewter with Pewter?
I'm planning to breed
06 male Super Pastel x 05 female Spider(BEE YAH!), 05 female Pewter, 04/05 female common, 04/05 female common
06 male Bumblebee x 05 female Pastel, 05 female Pastel, 04/05 female common, 04/05 female common
06 male Pewter x 05 female Pastel, 05 female Pastel, 04/05 female common, 04/05 female common
* I might breed male Pewter with female Pewter though, but I still don't know what morph can I expect from them.
And if I have some money left(hardly) I might get 1 male pied & 1 female het coz I know someone in Thailand is trying to unload his 2 low-white female pied CHEAP! It's like 2 for $5,000-$5,500 or something lol And those girls are early 2006 animals
I'm not daydreaming, I'm already in the middle of the deal with the 4 morph BP I mentioned. What I need now is some guidance<sp?> from you all breeders/non-breeders in the States. If you see any sign of mistake in the making, pleasex3 let me know.
Thanks in advance

Re: I want to breed BP
06 male Pewter x 05 female Pastel, 05 female Pastel, 04/05 female common, 04/05 female common
-------
From the above, change the male Pewter to male Pastel. I might not take the male Pewter if I can't breed him next year. The one I'm interested in is like 200 gram only. Not sure he'll be ready for next year breeding, might take a pass on this deal.
This is what I want to know the most though. What's the best ratio of male/female breeding group. Is one male breed to 4 female will damage the male? I read from Markus&Jayne site that his first time breeding, he bred one male to 11 female...is that ok with the male? What's the most female one male can breed to?
thanks

Re: I want to breed BP
thats a lot of info there. I'll try to help a little but keep in mind this is my first year breeding and I'm no expert.
05 females if feed well should be plenty ready for next season. 1 male to 5 females is a pretty good ratio that shouldn't over work the male too much but it'll keep him busy thats for sure.
by your list you seem to be focusing on co-dom/dom traits I'd mix it up a little more and add more ress traits into the plan like the female pieds you said you had your eye on. Adult female pieds are priceless IMO.

No clue
pewter X pewter=
normals
pastels
super pastel
cinnies
super cinnies
pastel/cinny
super pastel/cinny
super cinny/pastel
super cinny/ super pastel
I'm not sure on current market price.sorry
Just a little advise that I'm learning first hand. Things don't always workout as planned don't expect too much from your animals. Some will breed early some won't. Half of my males haven't bred for me AT ALL this year and they are plenty old and big.
this first year for me has been a blast and the fun is just starting.
hope this help

Re: I want to breed BP
Please understand that the animals you are looking at getting are great. However breeder size (05) pastel females you might want to aim a little higher with your price no saying you want find them but 06 female hachlings were 600.00 for a healthy 04-05 female pastel I'd say you looking at 1500 - 3000 depending on to animal and the breeder. The rest looks right on.
Good luck it sounds like you've got a good start.

Super pastels, Blackballs, pastels, cinnis is what you would get. Pewter to pewter would not produce normals. Like BEE X BEE wouldn't produce normals.

Ed, you need to go look at your punnet square again. A Pewter and a BumbleBee are, for all practical purposes, is a double het and can produce normals when bred together.

No problem bro. Look at a DH x DH punnet square, and plug in the bee or pewter. It will look the same.

You can get normals. Pewters are double visual hets for supers, so you can use this chart to see the outcome, just switch the pewters for dh albino pied.
