    Bikers!

So its warming up finally here in MI and I'm itching to get riding again. I've had the bike out a couple times on really nice days already. I'm getting things together to do maintenance before any serious riding for the summer. Oil change, possible coolant flush, clean/lube chain, wash/wax/polish, etc, etc!

I got a nice check from the army (most likely my last) so I'm using some of that for goodies.

    So far I have coming:

new two piece Mustang seat set so the wife and I can do longer rides

sending in a set of shocks to have the springs exposed, cut 2", and powder coated (black)

    used custom head light

Stage 2 upgrade next month: new needles and jets for the carburetors and drop in K&N air filters

I'm pretty excited about getting all this stuff done and getting some good rides in this year. I know there are at least a few others here with bikes, what do you have planned for this year?

    Re: Bikers!

As im only 16, and I bought a Honda CBR125 R in December, I have to wait until my 17th birthday to take it out on the road legally. I have my provisional license and I am in the progress of getting insurance and tax set up so that I can get out on the 20th of April. Cant wait!! Chomping it to bits!!

    Re: Bikers!

Just looked up that bike...man those wheels look skinny A friend of mine recently got a Ninja 250R, we drilled some holes in the baffle end caps and it almost sounds like a "real" bike now

I didn't mention what I had above but I got a 2000 Suzuki Marauder 800. Its a great bike, I'm definitely a cruiser/muscle/chopper kinda guy. My last bike was a Honda Knighthawk 750 that I sold a few years back.

Right now the only things have done to my marauder are cut out the exhaust baffles, installed spacers to raise up the drag bars, and upgrade from a 15 to a 17 tooth front sprocket. All of these where pretty cheap upgrades and the worth to me when riding has far exceeded the costs. The stage 2 I am really excited about supposed to really add a punch to the bike.

    Re: Bikers!

Over here in the UK, if you are going to follow the law, which retstricts you to (I think) 33 BHP for 2 years, and a year restricted at 45 MPH, the only bike that you dont need an actual restrictor on is a 125. If you are that much into bikes and want to ride that badly, then it doesnt really matter if its not a 'big bike'. It doesnt make you cooler if you brake the law to ride a bigger bike, it makes you stupid. The bike looks a lot better than some bigger bikes though to be fair (the wheels are really thin too )

Heres a pic of the same bike I have:

Probably have it for about a year and then possibly up to a 250 for the other year before I start into the IAM over here. Going to be an exciting year on a bike for the first time! Suppose to top out at 75 MPH but I have read a lot of articles of people clocking it at 85+! Not that I will be going that fast anyway, I brick myself at 50 MPH when practising! Anyway, up the bikes! Cars suck!

    Re: Bikers!

I have a 2005 Harley Electraglide. I have done a little to it but this year I would like to get the trunk quick disconnect kit and new plate holder. Together thats about $400 and It will come out of my snake budget so I have a delemma. I love to ride even with a bad back (the reason I got the couch with wheels). My wife rides a sporty and I am trying to talk her into a new exhaust system so the darn thing actually sounds like a Harley...lol. Would like to do some major riding this year but it all depends on my back being able to handle it.

    Re: Bikers!

I'm glad there aren't any restrictions like that here in the US, 'cause a little 125 with me on it would look kinda funny (6'2", 250 lbs)

I sold my '98 Honda superhawk a the end of last riding season to help pay for the wife's school, and I am aching to get something to ride around this summer. The budget's tight, but I may see what we can afford right now. I wish I had the time for a fixer-upper, but that's not gonna happen any time soon . My first bike was a Suzuki bandit 400, and I have always loved all the bandits. I would have to get the 1200 though to continue with the "next bigger bike" theme - bandit 400, ninja 600, superhawk 996.

Hmmm, now how to convince the wife......

How did you time yourself doing this?

    Re: Bikers!

Wow...I to am glad we don't have those tight of restrictions. My first bike was the 750. Some nice bikes here for sure. Eventually I want to get another bike "just for me" that I can go all out customizing. My wife loves to ride but can't be convinced to ride on her own.
