The way it's generally done is you send a healthy adult female ball python of proper weight to the breeder to cycle/breed. He returns the female to you along with the agreed upon split.
I have a few breeding loans going right now, but I did it a little different. I am giving all of the babies produced to the owner of the adult female which they sent me, and in return I keep the breeding size female after she lays. There are many other clauses to cover health issues, genetic issues, failed breeding, etc., but that was the basic deal of the loans I did.
In the case of a deal between a novice and an experienced breeder, the ball is normally sent to the experienced breeder. In the case of two experienced breeders, normally the ball is shipped to the breeder with the more expensive snake.
