    Mouse Breeding Question

Well it seems the new albino male is doing the job. Two out of the three females he's housed with produced babies yesterday. A very quick peek seems to indicate there's quite a few in the nest. We've also got a nice group of 11 young mice in with two other females we picked up preggie from our mouse feeder supplier.

Now my question is it seems that the females just pile all the babies they have together in one nest and both nurse the whole group of them, rather than have their own nests for their own babies. Is this quite normal for mice?

Yes it is normal.. mine always have a communal nest, the all just kind of sack out over the babies when they are nursing them.

Thanks April! You know mice are pretty smart about that stuff. When I was a nursing mom I'd have died of happiness to have another lactating female handy to pass off the baby to....
