Cool little fish (well maybe not little)

Eats great, active, colorful, and peaceful. Starting to become a favorite.

nice looking blood parot, can't remember what they mix to make it.

They are a mix between a Red Devil and a Gold Severum... Believed to be sterile, like a "mule" ... but I've heard tell of people having them reproduce? I've also seen Devil/Convict crosses... but the Parrots are my fav. with their squished little mouths!!!

it isnt exactly a Devil Serevrum cross, if you cross those 2 fish you wont get a blood parrot. That may be the basic cross to get started, but it is a much more advanced hybrid.

And yes Laooda, they can breed, but most males are sterile. Then agian most of the females are non sterile.

I was going to try and breed my Male flowerhorn i imported from Thailand to my female blood parrot, but i am moving out and i have to sell both of them

Thanks. I use RO/DI water in the tanks and meticulously maintain them.
Gotta keep the residents happy.

just a little tip that may save you some money:
RO/DI water isnt really needed in freshwater fish. Depending on the quality of the tap water you have, it could be good enough for your fish. I have 5 fish tanks running atm, and i dont even dechlorinate the water. Ive never had issues with water quality.

you only need RO/DI water when dealing with real delicate saltwater corals.

I'll try to take some pics of my fish soon. I have a 11" Black Piranha, a 12" red devil, a 9" Flowerhorn, and various smaller fish in my other 2 tanks

I use it for my SW tanks anyway so I just make some extra.


My tapwater has high silicate levels so instead of dealing with diatoms, I just use the purified water.
