Flexwatt/Herpstat issues
I am a little confused on how to set up my flexwatt with my herpstat. I have placed the flexwatt on the bottom of the enclosure with my herpstat sensor. I have set my herpstat temperature to 94 degrees for my warm side though the herpstat says 94 the surrounding temps are about 77. Should I set my herpstat higher to emit higher temps or should I leave it where it is since my ball lays on top of the area where the flexwatt was placed. Someone please help!!!!

Re: Flexwatt/Herpstat issues
Surrounding temps???? where and what size flexwatt and how much of the bottom is is covering.

What kind of enclosure, what kind of substrate & how are you measuring the air temps?

Re: Flexwatt/Herpstat issues
I have a 20 gallon breeder tank with paper towels for substrate because of a mite issue. I have that size 11 flexwatt I think it's called for my hot side and a ceramic bulb for my cool side. I'm using a Herpstat Pro.....I turned the tank over and bordered taped the flexwatt with the alum. tape that I ordered with it..I then, using the alum tape placed my sensor in the middle of the flexwatt then covered the sensor with the tape...I set the hot side for 94 and the cool side for 86....My Herpstat is saying that it 94 exact and you can see it occasionally adjusting...but my Accurite Therm..is only reading at 78 and steady....Do I need to cover the whole flexwatt with tape and I'm sure you place the flexwatt on the outside of the tank, correct?..Not sure what's goin on here?

Dude!
Seems you're taling the temps right ON the flexwatt - which will cause the Herpstat to adjust that the flexwatt reaches the correct temps - but you want the inside of the tank to be measured so put the probe INSIDE!

Re: Flexwatt/Herpstat issues
Keep the thermostat set at 94...Move your probe around the flexwatt until the temps say what the thermostat says...You might have to put the probe just to the side of the flexwatt or on it just a little...Also don't cover the probe all the way with tape, leave the end open...

Re: Flexwatt/Herpstat issues
in addition, cover most of the top of the tank. this will keep the heat in.
what are the room temps the tank is in?
