Do what I did when I was your age...

Find a family member that own's their own job and ask them if you could work for them. In the summer print out fliers for cutting lawns, yard work, etc. Save up your money.

I know I spent my summers & weekends working with my uncle helping him run his deli. I also spent many many a day cutting lawns and working up at a horse farm, cleaning stalls, feeding, grooming, and exercising horses.

The money added up and when I had enough to buy what I was saving up for I was able to buy it.

It's nice afterwards to sit back and look and say "Hey I earned *THAT*".

but just think by the time you can get a job and buy one the price might be more to yur likeing. You are going to have a diffecult time trading cards for a thousand dollar snake. unless you have a card that is worth that price and is certified. I wish you the best of luck and don't give up hope that snake will be in your collection before you know it.

What about any of your friends parents? Neighbors? Friends of the family? Just ask around. You can get a work permit at your age. I had to have one working for my uncle when I was that age.

Maybe you could find a local pet store and see if they need any help. Ask to talk to the manager of the store and just be upfront with him and tell him that you'd like to work for the reptiles because you like them and want to gain that experience and knowledge by working with them.

    Re: cards for your MOJAVES!!!

Well....not a snake expert which is why I've been just reading, trying to gather all the info I can......But I do know a little something about sports cards.

From my experience, once they are yours, they are yours for good. Selling cards is extremely tough unless you have something that people want really bad. I myself have been in the same boat as you.....got a bunch of cards that really aren't too interesting anymore and would like to get into something else. I once took my cards into a card shop and the guy was offering next to nothing so I kept em.

Really sucks cause back in the day, ALL my allowance used to go to cards. I was deep into cards for a good 3-4 years a while back and probably spent like $1200, minimum..........quite a bit, especially when you are 8,9 and 10.

Sports cards just really aren't good business. Good hobby and good collectables but as far as trying to get back what you put in, not going to happen. I can't tell you how many sports card shops I have seen go under.

Wish ya luck but I wouldn't hold my breath.
