    Exclamation Hets gone crazy!!!!

I have a pair of albino hets and there more moody then most of my snakes. But the female is crazy. I took her out yesterday to feed her and she struck at me 3 times in a row. Then when i went to move her she hissed at me ( she hisses all the time), but she has never struck at me. Dose anyone have this problem with there hets?
    That just happened!

Doubt it's anything to do with them being hets or a genetic issue. Just snakes being snakes. Some are easy to deal with, some have attitudes...some are easy one moment and hissy the next.

    Re: Hets gone crazy!!!!

Ed Clark and Tim Bailey recently posted that they thought Het Albinos were more aggressive, so there might be something to it. I don't think it's a steadfast rule, though, as I have a couple het albinos that are very timid/flinchy and have never struck at me.

Sounds to me like maybe she'd be a candidate for being fed in her own enclosure, rather than being moved. I can't imagine trying to reach in and pick up my het-caramel on feeding day...she lunges for the first movement she sees, so it better be the rat! LOL

I have to agree. Just about every 100% het I have ever met (not all but most) wants to do nothing but draw blood on me.

I just sold 2 66% het girls and I swear based upon the attitude, one of them is a 100% het without a doubt.

    They just don't like me.

    Re: Hets gone crazy!!!!

i've not noticed any extra or unusual aggression with any of my hets. in fact, my het albino girl will only eat a f/t rat that is left on the cage floor for her to eat once i leave the room. pretty tame stuff there.

    You're lucky it's so calm.

Het albinos, orange ghosts, and WC adults are the only BP's I have ever had to use a hook with.

i also have 2 het ghosts and they are sweethearts. i do have some poss. het pieds that are a little fiesty--not bad but i've been nipped by a few of them. they are still just babies though and get excited about feeding day (can't dislike that!). but maybe i should take that as a sign that they will prove out for me in a few years.
