    pregnant mouse

I have 1.1 micein a 20 gallon tank right now, and Im expecting babies in the next few days. The thing is, the female doesnt seem much fatter, but is defiantely diffferent
    1. She does not run around anymore
    2. She sleeps out in the open(she used to only sleep in their "nest")
    3. She seems "dead". Like she just lays there a lot. When I touch her, she doesnt run away like normal, just a little twicth.

Is she ok, is she preganant?

Sounds pregnant. I have one at the moment who is; gradually, almost daily, you can notice that they get bigger and mor pear-shaped..
Although, it almost sounds like a sign of being "in heat" though, since you said she does not run away as normal.. female rats/mice/etc. get like that when a male attempts to breed them..

Or it could just be a fluke; sometimes mice and other rodents "freeze up" when something's coming after them.. a surival instinct so that snakes don't see their motion

    Re: pregnant mouse

Argh; sorry bout that. Mice are so weird; have you thought of breeding rats instead? They are bigger, granted, but their young are roughly the size of mice when weaned, and they are so much less unpredictable than mice in my experience..
I would take them back to the store and inquire as to why they died, and push for a refund or at least compensation..

    Re: pregnant mouse

Eh, Its been a month, doubt I can get a refund. But yeah, I breed rats as well. Compared to mice, I LOVE THEM. Smell better, nicer, better food for the snakes, less work,

    Rats =
    Mice =

I had this cage that I thought had a curse on it for a while, I had like 5 or 6 mice die in there, I dont know what it was! I tried putting the cage in the dishwasher, spraying it with a bleach/water solution everything and they just kept dying. Then eventually, for whatever reason it stopped. Our last male that we had died in that cage, and the females are fine now. Who knows what happend **shrugs**
