If you live in GA you can help!
Ok I can not seem to finde the reptile laws for GA (other then you need a permit to keep gators). I am in curently in the U.S. Coast Guard and when I get out I paln on opening a reptile shop. So i am doing my research now, ( i still have a little less then 2 years left). So if you could help me I will send you a internet hi-five..

I now owning native reptiles in Georgia without a permit is illegal and they say getting a permit is hard. I am not sure about the rules with petshops though. Check with the DNR.

I am pretty sure Georgia's only reptile laws concern owning cornsnakes and kingsnakes. I will see if I can find a link

You may not own non-venomous indigenous snakes (no corns, no kings), but you may own venomous indigenous snakes.

yes, it is. the reason for it is because venomous snakes are "dangerous" so they don't care if people catch/keep/do whatever with them because it is best to reduce their numbers in the wild--no need to protect them.

Permit can be issued to own certain reptiles on the list however they are issued for educational purposes only.

If the House Bill 142 passes, it might change that, and it will then be legal to own Corn and King snakes in GA.
