    What would you do?

I am finally moving out at the end of this month, so that means i can finally purchase my snakes. A real good friend of mine breeds snakes and has a real large variety of different morphs for me to choose from, but im have a bit of trouble picking.

Here are my current choices: Yellow belly male, Cinny male, a female pastel, or a pair of het ghosts. If i go with anything other than the pair het for ghost, ill be picking up 1 or 2 normal females.

I am kind of leaning towards the female pastel so i can get a spider next year and hopefuly be making bumble bee's.(i really like bumble bee's).

The reason i didnt get a spider this year is because his male bumble bee is not really interested in females this year so no spiders being produced, next year he will be mine, oh yes he will be mine.

But this thread isnt all about me, if you were in my position, what would you do?

Work with what interests you as far as morphs, you won't have any fun cleaning and feeding a snake you're not truly passionate about.

BTW, noticed your avatar looks a lot like Mike Wilbank's BlackEL.

    Re: What would you do?

Well....the morph that got it all started for me were super pastels, not sure why exactly but I love them, love the looks of them, and combo potential is huge....so after some advice on which possibly make the best looking supers/combos I picked up a male VPI pastel and a female lemon pastel.

My next favorite morphs were Pewters, Super Cinnies, Pastel ghosts, and ghosts. I've already picked up my cinny male (just waiting for weather to ship) and I'm in the process of getting a 1.2 of 100% het hypo (ghost).

Later this year I do want to pickup a 1.2 100% Het Albinos (Gotta love binos), and either a Yellowbelly male of female, or both and actually my goal is not to make ivories but again for the combos that they make (YB pastels, YB ghosts)

My loooong term goal is to produce true ghosts (Hypo Axanthics) So sometime later in the year I would love to pick up an axanthic male and 100% het axanthic female.

As far as normals females, I started out with my two ball pythons that were first considered "pets" but I wanted the females vs. males as pets because I knew down the road I would want to breed.

So far this year I have also picked up a 1.1 of really high blushing normals, that I am hoping is inheritable so I could possibly produce something neat from the pair, or blushing pastels, cinnies, etc... I'm looking forward to picking up a few other nice CH babies to raise up and play around with.

So what I'm doing is working within my reasonable price ranges, so as I produce things you can trade or sell a few male animals here and there to reinvest in other morphs that weren't within the budget in the beginning. But for the most part I'm going to be keeping what I produce.

FYI, I still think you should take down your avatar, use your own pictures buddy, or give credit where its due.

    Re: What would you do?

it sounds like you are ready to rock and roll. right now i would like to stay smaller, but we all know how that works. I dont even have a snake yet and im already thinking about what to do in 3 years when hopfully produce eggs.

and about the avatar, i just found a picture on google images and cropped it down to fit my avatar. Its not like im saying the snake is mine or using it to make money. This isnt a legal battle.

    Re: What would you do?

I would start with the female pastel. So many great morph combos start with the pastel and a female pastel is the foundation of some great breeding projects. Also you should get a female first because it is gonna take time to raise up a female to breeding size and males mature faster. This way next year you get that spider or whatever else you may like by then and you are on the way to making designer morphs!

Can't you ask your friend to make a nice price for the pastel female and cinny male? That would be great to make some pewter pastels!!

    Re: What would you do?

a female pastel would be a great start! get and care for as many females as you can. this gives you a couple of years to decide on which male or morph you want to work with. during this time you'll gain alot of expierence caring for balls. you can never have enough females...

Go for what blows your mind when you see it........ I started with a pastel which I really like alot, but my first love was albinos and it was my second purchase.
    Absolutely obsessed with ball pythons!

I agree with the people suggesting to go with what draws you, first and foremost you should adore what you see in that tub. Don't go for what everyone else tells you to get.
