    So Incredibly Nervous...

Well, today I sent out my resume and a cover letter to Houghton Mifflin. I'm applying for a summer (June-August) internship... Their decisions are made in March and April, and I'm assuming that I'll know in May whether I'm in or not.

Sending out my resume was scary... on the one hand, I'm glad it's done and that it's on its way. On the other hand, once that paper left my hands, there's nothing I can do but wait and nit-pick about all the mistakes I probably made in writing it.

I'm wondering if, in a week or so, I should e-mail the human resources chick I sent it to, to confirm that she recieved it and thank her for reading it. Or, if I should just let it ride and wait it out.

I -really- want this position. If I get it, it means finding an apartment I can rent for 3 months in Boston, buying a corporate America-appropriate wardrobe...and somehow paying for all of -that- before I even start. It'll be great experience, and if I like it, my path after graduation very well may be publishing.

Anyway...I'm super nervous, as I just mailed it out a little while ago. I hope this goes away...I can't be nervous like this from now until May! I'll go insane!

Hey good luck that would be huge.

No matter how much you think that whatever you may have done may not be good enough, they may love it more then anyone elses! I'm sure you'll get the job and if it doesnt happen, then fate has better things in store for you.

Might give it ten days or so before inquiring...but I think anything that shows initiative on your part and a genuine desire for the position is a good thing.

Good luck!! I really hope it all works out for ya...sounds awfully exciting!!

    Re: So Incredibly Nervous...

Thanks for the encouragement, guys! I took Auryn out for a little bit and he's calmed me down.

So, I'll wait for about a week and a half, and follow up on the resume. After that--I guess it's just out of my hands.

It is definitely an exciting opportunity, and I hope they realize that I'm more than some cookie-cutter kid hoping for a resume-builder. I genuinely love books--and I hope they appreciate that quality in a candidate

    Good luck, Kim!

I agree with the advice you were already given. I always follow up on a resume with a call.

And if you want some shopping advice, just ask me what I paid for my outfit in the "I'm so excited" thread!
