She ate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hurray for Chocolate, she ate tonight!!! And it didn't take her long to zero in on it! Only 2 weeks not eating, so just a guess, I must have stressed her trying to go to a feeder box...on top of a new hide, and tree mess. I am going to be so careful about introducing new ideas, and especially too many at once. I never realized how sensitive BP's are. I am just so happy!!!
And when I went to the pet store to pick up the rat, I saw my first live redtail boa. I am in love again. She is beautiful!! There are 2, the one the keeper says is a general coloring, the one I heald is unusual. Asmoky brown with golden loops on her back and the red dots/markings down her to her tail where the red really takes over and dominates. Just beautiful. $89.00, which seems good, it is 6-8 months, handles good, eats live good. She explained a few of the differences, like it is not head shy, will be longer then Chocolate. I have to think it over, moving I am saving pennies for the trip. But what a temptation.
I will probably go with the pillow case and cooler idea. I may run the air if I get into rain, I won't use air to cut gas cost.
Chocolate is smishing herself between the tank glass and her hide. I worry she is stuck. Can't pull her out because her skin sticks to the glass, I have to tilt the hide to get her free. Shes been staying in the hide, I put the heating pad in and check it, just luke-warm. I am getting an acu-rite tommorrow. But yesterday she started wedging herself like explained. Will she go where she can't get out? So far I have removed her. She hissed at me tonight, I think she disapproved of being bothered. But it was to get her out to eat, and she did.
Thanks Everybody!! Mommy can relax now

Re: She ate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congrats! As long as your husbandry is correct and the snake is healthy, skipping a few meals isn't going to hurt and will happen at times. As far as the Boa goes, saying it gets longer than a BP is an understatement. My girl is 8ft, 35lbs and a handful! They get much bigger than BPs. Best of luck and definitely do your research before jumping into Boa ownership (or start with one of the smaller types)..

Congrats!
Yes I agree with what Jamie said. Do your research on Boa's before getting one. They are nothing like BP's and they get A LOT bigger. They are awesome snakes though.

Ummm just a "tad" longer...LOL!

Seriously they get a lot bigger than ball pythons, especially the females but they are great snakes generally. Just do your research really well and definitely don't buy a boa unless it's properly sexed and it's health is good.

Re: She ate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank You everyone, I have rethought the boa, and will pass, the photo brought the size to a reality. I love Chocolate, think I will stay "totally devoted" as the song goes, to her. Atleast for awhile, and select smaller.

Re: She ate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope I didn't put you or anyone else off of boa's. They are truly a wonderful snake and that specific one pictured (she was about 6.5 feet at the time and is not done growing) is a wonderful but fairly hefty snake. I just know that pet stores tend to downplay the mature size that a female boa can reach in their zeal to make the sale and I didn't want you uninformed about what you are considering purchasing.
We have another boa here, a lovely male just over a year. Probably one of the easiest, most laid back snakes we'll ever own but after rehabbing the bigger female we have some idea of potential for mature size and other issues when one takes on a larger (though certainly not giant) snake.
I know I see a ton of snakes that I want to own too. Cass, another member, just got an albino burm which I would kill to have in our collection but I know that reality is I likely won't ever be able to properly house or manage one that size.
