    a typical shed?

my ball went opaque a few days ago, and i noticed that her skin is really loose. it doesn't look like it is the old skin that is loosening up. i guess it kind of looks like she got really stretched out and then never tightened up again. she's 23" with a 1.25" girth, and weighs 199g. she eats a small, small rat every week with no problem. is her skin very loose just because she is getting ready to shed?

That's right. A few days before she sheds her eyes will start to clear up. Make sure to bump the humidity up during the entire shed period.

A snake's skin does look kinda weird between when they are completely blue and when they shed, kinda like odd folds and such. Your snake is probably due to shed very soon. =)

If you like, post some pictures.

    Re: a typical shed?

yeah, her eyes just cleared up and i'm expecting a nice clean girl any day now. but i noticed that her skin was very loose, and she almost looks like she lost a lot of weight, but still has the skin to hold it. but i know that is not the case, because she eats every week like i said. i was just a little worried because i did not notice how extremely loose her skin looked before i guess... thanks guys! you're all so helpful around here!

It sounds like it's just ready to shed...they look kinda weird, like loose folds of skin. Nothing to worry about! You'll soon have a snake with fresh lovely skin soon. =) And there's almost nothing more awesome than seeing your snakey friend with brand new buttery soft skin.
