    UTH question

ok i have my BP in a rubbermaid container... its not that big but it will have to do for now... i have a UTH as the only source for heat however, i just wanna know how long must i keep the UTH on for? do i turn it off at night and turn it on during the day (12 h cycle) or do i just leave it on 24/7??? just a little info on my set up... the container isnt that big... the heat pad covers half of the container and INSIDE the enclosure i have a small hide in the corner that covers 1/4 of the total enclosure... i have a pretty big water dish thats big enough to fit him completely inside it and that water dish covers the other half of the enclosure(opposite side the UTH is covering)... and as for substrate i am using 2 paper towels....
ALSO how can i keep moisture up in my enclosure????

Do you have a thermostat controling the heat out put on the UTH? If not you need one to keep the temps at 90ish.The snake needs that temp at all times so never turn it off.You really dont need a water bowl large enough for him to set inside of.

Ok here is the thermostat i use and some pet stores do carry it.If you do not control the heat output of the UTH they can get hot enough and it will melt plastic tubs or cause fires. http://www.reptilesupply.com/product...roducts_id=818

    Re: UTH question

well i have lamp dimmer that i hooked up with the heat pad (the guy who sold me the snake told me to guy one) and it controls how much heat UTH gives off... i left the lamp dimmer at about 3/4 (i was advised to do so)... will a lamp dimmer work the same as a thermostat? wats the difference between a thermometer and a thermostat? do i plug my heat pad into a thermostat just like i do for the lamp dimmer?

AND most important how can i keep moisture good for snake in my enclosure?

Yes some people use light dimmers as a way of controlling heat output.A thermometer tells you what the temps are,a thermostat controls heat output.Just like the thermostat for your homes furnace.Do not buy a fish tank thermometer as they are worthless.Once your temps are correct your humidity levels can be reached by either spraying enclosure when your snake is in shed or placing the water dish close to warm side of the enclosure.

You need to get the Accurite which will give a humidity measure and then spray when the humidity is too low. That tub looks awfully small, in my opinion. Can the snake actually stretch out the length of the container without taking a bath? I know they hide a lot but when they when they do roam their cage, they do like to climb and explore quite a bit, at least mine does.
