Tell me a bit about yourself and your animals :)

Well I decided to make this. Because Im curious what every other snake person has in their animal family other than snakes? Ofcourse you can say what type of snakes you have. But please also put what type of other animals you have, and what type of animals you have always want in your family that you may have one day or maybe dreams of animal you always wanted but know you cannot have. This should be fun. I'll go first

First the snake. We have three. My snake is a Ball python. His name is Chester, here is a pic of him. He is 10 months old, and on small/small rats and going on 36" if not already there

Mom has a corn snake almost 30" or so, a Bubblegum snow we believe, and she has a Columbian red tail boa.

We also have 6 breeder female rats and 4 boys. We've only bred the first 4 girls (the other two girls are the offspring(we also have 4 other girls, but we may grow them up for snake food) two girls had 15, and the other two had 12 and 13. And in a month and half the food is all gone. We love our rats. They get to run around outside thier cages throughout the day, ontop of their cages on their play toys, we must watch them or they'll get off, which a few do, and watch the cats.

Also have mice. 4 females, and a new male. All for females are pregnant and should have babies soon within a week or two

Ivan moms corn snake eat two 12 day old rat pups a week. Lily eat 2 jumbo rats every 9-10days. We got both malnourished, and very very skinny. More than likely both would of died. Lil is 2 and half yrs of age and almost 7 ft. She was on 1 medium rat every 14-21 days and Lily was very dehydrated (sane with Ivan when we got him at 13") Both grew incredibally since comming to live with us and both very happy and healthy. lol.

I have a dog, name Lindy. She is Rott and Australilan blue heeler. We had both parents, both AKC pure and papered.

We have three cats; Icy, Fiona and Twister.

We ofcourse have fish. Once we move we plan on building a pond on the ground and have a small bride over it and all, an dhaving some koi and other fishies in a tropical fresh water pond

Mom has a 2 an dhalf yr old Ferret name Rascal. but we call her RazzyDaz a lot. lol

And I have the birds in the house. I use to breed rare colored zebra finches and society finches. And I also bred hard to breed Orange weavers. And I bred Java Sparrows and Canaries. I quit breeding because I had to take down my aviary once we moved and had to give up my birds But hopefully once we move into our final home and all I'll be able to breed the birds I want to breed and all that stuff. I also had a budgie pair. And had some babies. I had to give up the 7 babies that I had for two years and handraised with the parents to someone down in Bremerton (sp?) Washington who has a two car garage aviary. They are much happier I believe

I have now two budgies, both very tame and sweet, a Handraised Starling turning 3 in May, a handraised House Sparrow turning 5 in May. And A Umbrella Cockatoo. I have to say birds are my fancy, I love them a lot. And love all animals. Birds are just the peek of my interests. I plan on becoming a rare bird breeder to rehab them in the wild and increase population. I'll have lots of research and tons to learn more before then, but this is what my Goal and I believe my Fate in life is

So please, tell me more about yourself Im curious how different and unique we all are

ps. Sorry for the long post. lol.

Oops forgot to post what I want 9ok I post a bit of what I want so let me finish, lol)

    What I want;

To become a rare bird breeder and acquire more birds, so I wont get in great detail on this.

I want a female Ball python. I dont care too much of the morphs. Actually.. maybe I do. I want that $20,000 female Ruby Ball python. GORGEOUS! Chester would LOVE her! Or maybe I would just love her. lol. She is a babe!

I also wouldnt mind an Iguana. Beautiful animals. I would LOVE to have a large terraium or enclosure fo rmy reptiles to live in a more natural habitat. That would be pretty cool

Also I wouldnt mind having a horse, and Im sure my mom wouldnt either. lol.

Re: Tell me a bit about yourself and your animals :)

I have A carpet python, 2 BP's, 1 corn snake, 2 cal. kingsnakes, 1 Luecistic Ratsnake,. A 2 borzoi,1 french bulldog, a persian cat and finches. We also have three tortoises, a large yellow foot , a russian and a three toed box turtle. An assortment of frogs , an anole and millepedes. We also have a hedgehog.

Right now i'm fostering my sons 2 redtails. So we have a full house. I have done rescue work most of my life. Not as much now as in the past. Vet bills can really pile up.

My main interest is the borzoi. I love dog showing. It gets in your blood like a disease. I had a paint horse I lost a couple years ago. That was my true passion. Plan on getting a quarter horse hopefully in the near future but have a lot of campaigning to do with the new borzoi. Want to wait till I have the time to devote to a horse. Showed horses a few times and did quite well. My second show out I took grand champion reserve in a class of 23. apparently showing dogs prior helped as far as experience. I almost had a heart attack!! It also helped that I was showing a dynamite horse for a friend. Max is great.
I am wanting to acquire a few more snakes. Have a spider ordered thru Adam, and I am waiting on a blue beauty and another LRT.
Animals are a very central part of our lives. They are a lot of work but bring so much enjoyment. Sorry for the long post but I could go on forever when the conversation is on animals.

Re: Tell me a bit about yourself and your animals :)

    Here goes.
My name's Jen. I work fulltime for a collections agency, in the payment department. Mark, my fiance, owns a property management and home renovation firm, and I enjoy helping him out with some aspects of that when I am not at work and not housecleaning/animal-house cleaning. I live with Mark on a farm in western NY that we are renting, roughly 300 acres of hayfields, woods, creeks and pastureland. We are marrying this August, 25th and plan to buy a smaller farm in the area. My animals are my hobbies. We have two horses (mares); one is pending APHA (Paint) registry and is a solid sorrel. The other is a tovero who we will be registering as Pinto shortly. (darned registration fees are hard to come up with when planning a wedding!) I was thinking of adding them to our gift registry, hehe.) I am thinking of showing them in the far future, but no plans as yet. Here are some pics:
Cuesta (and me.) She is a direct granddaughter of one of my favorite QH atuds, Doc Bar. Her registered name will be Docs Malbec. coming 8 year old, great at trail riding, did some jumping.

Running with her ;06 filly, Jenny (sold her.)

And Emma, the Tovero 7 yr. old. Green broke last year b/c her previous owners did nothing with her.

For BPs, I have 1.0 Spider and Pastel.. 1.4 normal girls, 1.0 het orange ghost. Three of my girls should have eggs this year; my first year breeding. Ginger had a clutch last year that unfortunately went bad and died. We also have a boa constrictor imperator (male) to round out the snake collection. Our other pets are: one black cat; Inky. 2.3 clawed frogs. 0.1 albino horned frog. And fish: 125g tank with Oscars, other cichlids, and plecos and catfish. 55g tropical community tank, and a 55g goldfish tank.
I plan on adding a White's tree frog to the familiy come springtime.
My other hobbies are drawing/painting, hiking, responsible ATVing, and guns. I mainly do .22 practice shooting, but I am applying for my pistol permit this spring. Nature in general is my passion. I would literally want to die if I did not have access to the natural, unspoiled wilderness on a daily basis. It is just in my blood to be out here, and like a diver I can go into urban areas like the diver goes underwater, and maybe even enjoy myself and see cool sights, but for my breath of fresh air I need to be back out in the country.
I grew up in the city of Buffalo, but spent much of my childhood roaming around with friends in a wooded railroad area nearby. It was just a spot that drew the "different" kids who were not preppy clones of each other (instead, they were black-nail-polish and hair-dyeing clones of each other, hehe.) I am still fascinated by creepy areas with few people such as abandoned buildings. But at 26, I have mellowed out a lot and turned away from the drug and partying culture that I used to frequent. I have few true friends and I like it this way; my best friend is a person who I have gone through a lot with since high school and still best friends with. And I could not be happier with my life any other way than what it is now; and it is still evolving!
-Jen. Back in the hobby after a hiatus!
    Ball pythons:
    0.1 normal; 1.1 albino. 1.0 pied; 0.1 het pied; 1.0 banana.

Re: Tell me a bit about yourself and your animals :)

I am a snake noobie, and just got my adorable Pastel male a few weeks ago.
my husband and I have two Bengal cats, who are like children to us. They are both 8 years old now.
I have tons of fish and have been seriously into that hobby for about 10 years.

we own a very large property in NH and I have been toying with the idea of Alpaca and pheasants for awhile but it's such a big commitment it may be awhile before getting serious. I hit all the New England fairs to see the birds and pack animals

I am beginning to get into poison dart frogs, and definitely plan to expand my snake collection into arboreal species after I get a year or two of experience under my belt. A chameleon is high on my list as well, as is a tortoise.

I'm not getting any younger, so I have to get a move-on if I want to get into some of the long-lived reptiles

Re: Tell me a bit about yourself and your animals :)

Hmmm this could take forever LOL...

Well I'm Joanna and I'm married to Mike (McAdry here at BPNet). I have three older children from my previous marriage, Kate 19, Luke 15 and Beth 13 plus Mike and I produced Mikey age 5 (yes I am quite nuts thank you and having a baby at 40 was a trip LMAO!)

We currently have 15 snakes....13 ball pythons, 1 bci and 1 milksnake...three of the snakes are actually owned by Luke, Beth and Mikey. We also have one incredibly old and decript beta fish, Ping, a male crested gecko named Sprocket, four breeder mice that won't breed (go figure) and a good sized colony of breeder/feeder rats that are all way too spoiled for rats LOL.

We have a female 10 month old Boxer/Lab pup named Gunnar and recently took in a homeless pup...Tank...a male, about 6 months old possibly Pit/Lab cross.

Something around here is always either needing to be fed, just been fed, peed on something or somebody, ate someone's homework (yeah right what mom hasn't heard that excuse!), wants to know when dinner is, breeding, shedding, pooping, did I mention the peeing???, chewing my slipper (that's usually the pups but I wouldn't put it past those children of mine!) or needing a hug....I love my life...most days....as long as I can get up and put on the coffee in the morning AND NOBODY DRANK ALL THE MILK AND PUT THE JUG BACK IN EMPTY AGAIN!!!!
