Rainbow Boas

I have a few questions about rainbow boas. Are they good eaters? How big do they get? What is their temperment? I have read on the web, but nothing is very helpful. I find many different answers.

I'm not a pro on brb's but I do know they can be nippy as babes, but will calm down with proper handling. They need more precise heat and humidity levels than other boas. They need humidity in the 70% range and heat cannot go over 88 deg. They can get up to 6 ft, but are no where near as girthy as BCI's or BPs.

good post, i have a juvie and he has never even struck at me and always eats but i have talked to others who say that their boa is very mean and always bites. i got mine at a reptile expo and the guy who sold it to me said that each snake has its own temperment. some he showed me bit him and others like mine were calm. and humidity is very important. also i have heard that people overfeed them because they think they are skinny but they are naturally slender snakes. in my opinion, after a shed there is not snake more beautiful than a brb. i am not familiar with other species of rainbow boas.

Another Question.
Are BRB's able to be handled on a daily basis by a 12 year old? I am very gentle with snakes, but love to get them out of their cages and handle them(if I'm able) .

depends on the individual snake, mine i can handle all i want and i even let others hold him for a while and he shows no sign of being irritated. others hate handling. but he does have a strong feeding response, and if he smells a mouse and i stick my hand in there i know he will bite me. i feed him in a separate container though. but for a 12 year old i would not reccomend a brb as a first snake but if you have alot of snake experiance then go for it.

Mine has never struck at me and takes handling well, but refuses to eat F/T unless she is started with a live mouse. Yes, they are very beautiful.

My BP has a better "personality".

They are amazing snakes i dont have one but i saw one at a recent reptile show in San Antonio Sat. It was a baby and was very tiny and beautiful great snake.
