I might be a bit off topic here, but arent there other Tree dwelling snakes that might be less aggressive and perhaps less fragile? I realise they may not be as beautiful but a green tree snake could possibly be a idea? I'm new to this, jsut thoght i would toss in

The probability that that snake is a WC animal is pretty high. Most jobbers at reptile shows sell WC etbs or some of the "farmed" animals that are starting to show up from SA. Even Daytona (which is supposed to be a CB or CBB only show) had several WC animals at tables selling multiple species. Imports take a lot of work to become acclimated to captivity and most are suffering from stress, dehydration and internal parasites.

I have several LTC (two years without problems), WC emeralds and you couldn't tell the difference in temperment between them and the CBBs. The only time our emeralds display aggression is at feeding time (which they think is every night! ).

    Juddb,
Cooks Tree Boa is one of the most misused names in the pet trade and is usually applied to amazon tree boas. True corallus cookii only come from one island, St. Vincent, and are illegal to export from there. In Trinidad, they call corallus ruschenbergerii, cooks tree boas.

If you are refering to Dendrelaphis punctulata, it is an Austrailian snake and probably not easily acquired, legally. They also are probably alot more "fragile" than most corallus or morelia due to being extremely thin and whip-like.

    Re: Nice or not?

I am raising *a* amazon tree boa. I don't handle it because its just to much of a risk with the spine being that small. Aside from that when working around the enclosure I don't notice the little guy to be overly aggressive but generally curious. Great feeding response. I have read about experienced keepers who say there are some that are docile and handleable just depends on the animal. Then there are those who say if its not aggressive its not healthy. I don't think its as cut and dry as that but my one ATB doesn't make me an expert

I have to send my Rebel XT back for service, before I can take new pics. Somehow the old Mavica just can't compete with a digital SLR.
