What is your favorite NATIVE reptile?

I know we always poll each other on what our favorite ball python morph, or favorite giant python is.....but what about at home.

What is your favorite reptile that is NATIVE to your home area?

My favorite has to be the Eastern Fence Lizard. It is one of the coolest animals in LA to observe.....and one of the most beautiful too IMO.

    Garter snakes.. LOL

Pretty much the only snake/reptile in my area (that I'm aware of), although rubber boas supposedly live around here.

i love green anoles. such a simple and common little lizard but it just brings a huge smile to my face to see one scamper across the window sill or across the sidewalk in front of me.

i know a lot of my affection for them is probably because a green anole was the first herp i ever had for a pet when i was younger. my family went to a cabin in south carolina for a family reunion and there were these green lizards everywhere! (we were from virginia--no anoles.) my sister and i each caught one and brought them home for pets. later when i moved here (georgia) for college i got a pair and my love for herps was rekindled.

here is a photo of an anole i rescued on new year's eve several years back. she came down the chimney (i assume to get warm) but burned all her little toes on the hot coals. i took her in and all her toes healed fine, but without the last joint where the sticky pad was. she got around fine and i adapted her cage to be non-climber friendly.

I adore Texas Brown snakes. I'm hoping to catch some this summer when I learn to field herp!

    They come in red, too!

Bullsnake. Hands down the best for size, attitude and personality. And the colors and pattern are great.

I love those things, me and my brother had 2 for a long time, crazy and lazy. I'd say my favorite would have to be bullfrogs only because you can go to a single pond and catch like 50. When i was tiny, id go to the pond on the golf course i lived next to and come home with my shirt, socks, and shoes filled with giant bullfrogs.

My favorite hands down is the Eastern Fox snake. It's a large, semi-aquatic ratsnake found here by the Great Lakes. They're very impressive to see in person, but highly protected now. They're on the verge of being listed as endangered I wish I could work something out with DNR where they give me a permit to keep and breed them, and they release the offspring back in the wild I produce

I love the black rat snakes. I used to occasssionally see them in the marsh, in my college years. (almost had one in my boots, to boot) All that black irridensence is just beautiful.

Although not a reptile, we used to have these cool green tree frogs that would come sit on our windows (in GA) at night and catch the bugs as they were attracted to the light. We had two for at least a year, and I was sad when they didn't return.

LOL, our evil plot is exposed!
I can't wait...and they should be easy to find, from what I hear.
