Went to the pound to register/microchip Zeus..and
come home with this:

His name is Aries.. he is what we lovingly refer to as a Weinie Pincher... cause he is dachsund and min pin.... I did not mean to come home with this little guy back in November..but I could not help it.
I took Zeus (my shephard) to the pound to register him and get him micro chipped since they offer it considerably cheaper than my vet... we took Zeus into the back clinic, and this sweet little pup was all by himself in a kennel. His previous owner brought him in and gave him up the night before..he came in favoring his front left leg and not able to walk on it at all, keep in mind, he is a tiny tiny dog. It was a few days before Thanksgiving, and the pound did not want to pay vet bills to be sure his foot was ok, so they had planned on shipping him along with other dogs they deem unadoptable for whatever reason to the next county for euthanization. Sad, and very messed up. So, I talked them into letting me have him as long as I assummed all medical bills for him..however, I still got charged $36 for his first set of shots (at the pound), his microchip (I like my dogs chipped, insures I get them back usually if they get loose) and his registration for the rest of the year. Took him home, got him into the vet, got his foot x-rayed.... small breaks was the problem, she thinks cause he is so tiny (6lbs. in Nov..now weighs in at 10lbs.) he may have been stepped on... she told me that unfortunately, b/c he is such a tiny tiny dog, that she could not effectively do surgery to fix it.. so we splinted it up and she told us to watch him, b/c he is so small that if it is bad enough, he could start to chew his foot off, which would mean amputation... here we are in Feb..and his foot is fine, no issues seemingly, and his x-ray said his foot looked real good and healed.
Funny enough, I dont usually like little or tiny dogs, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE this little guy... he is spunky and sweet, funny, smart, all you could want in a dog. And he holds his own with big brother Zeus.. I was very very worried at first cause he is little, currently, he is at 10 lbs. and his brother Zeus is at 90 lbs... big huge difference. Often times he can be seen hanging off big brother Zeus's face snarling and making little dog noises while trying to eat Zeus's face.... and they are totally inseparable

My dogs are freakin spoiled!
My hubby says: "gee dear, i knew you wanted to get the boys some nice collars, but man..I did not know you were talking about spending damn near $60 for two collars"
Me: "but honey... they just had to have thier own bling"
And here is what I bought my boys! Although, I found a cheaper source than PetSmart!

Aries has the single row..and Zeus has the double row.

Awww Jeanne he's too freakin cute! You must, must, MUST get us pics of Aries and Zeus together when you can. We had a huge white GSD and a tiny little red doxie years ago and funny enough it was always the little dog being rowdy and the huge Shepherd being patient and putting up with the little one's antics. Congrats on the new little furry wonder!

He's adorable. I'm not a small dog person either, but like you was at the pound (I was working a spay-a-thon) and some people dropped off this tiny little mama dog, her sister, and two litters of their babies! So by the end of the day I had a new dog, LOL.
Your boy is too cute! And how nice to have two rescue stories in one day, what with Joanna's find as well.
These posts just totally make my day. :-)

Grats on your new boy!! I'm not a fan of little dogs in general, either...but I'm so glad you found this boy his forever home and a second chance at life!

Re: Went to the pound to register/microchip Zeus..and
Now that is a CUTE dog. I didn't used to like little dogs either, but being a groomer has warmed me up to them.
Love those collars.. my mom hates that I got my dog a spike collar, but dogs look so good with a bit of bling.
Congrats on the new furkid.
