    Testing the waters

So, with Blue Gorgon, my goals have grown more and more multi-faceted. It's focus snake-wise is obviously Blue Beauties just like the focus on this forum is Ball Pythons, but I also want it to be about snakes in myth and myths about snakes. And I want to expand on it, but I thought I'd throw out a line and see what you guys think of what I'm doing so far, what you might like to see, and what you might not like to see.

    Here's my basic mission statement:

Snakes are Beautiful; one of Nature's masterpieces. Snakes are often falsely represented as monstrous, harmful, and evil. It is Blue Gorgon's aim to promote these shy, gorgeous, and beneficial animals not only as objects d'art and exotic pets, but wonders of nature to be admired and respected.

    Things in the works:
    More art; duh
    Photo Galleries
an FAQ (suggestions most especially welcome/needed here!)

    , , , , ,
and especially , are most welcome and encouraged! Thanks!

    Re: Testing the waters

Thanks! Mostly I just want to spread the love in a unique way, and so far my myth/Medusa art has been a good way to do that for folks who aren't typically snake people. Ease them into the idea that they're not all dangerous scary monsters like in the movies!

I could really use suggestions and imput though, like for the FAQ and what folks would like to see or might help achieve that aim. Like what are the most common misconceptions you guys have heard?

    Re: Testing the waters

Maybe a photo gallery showing people with their snakes being happy and not being eaten? Just a thought..

Sheree - I think it's WONDERFUL! I'm too tired this evening to come up with anything creative to add, but if I think of anything, I'll be sure to suggest - besides the obvious, more ball python work too, please!!!!

    Re: Testing the waters

I think that sounds very cool. It reminds me of the chapter in the Barker's BP book about the history of ball pythons and myths and such in Africa about bp's. It would be cool if BG.com compiled histories and histories of myths like about snakes...I'd definitely enjoy reading that.

    Re: Testing the waters

Thanks guys! I love the idea of a gallery of folks just being cute and chilling with their docile snakes! Show the cuddly side, right? I love it!

Once I get some other things settled, I'm going to start organizing and gathering snake myths, especially the more positive variety. Both legendary and the doofy ones like snakes poisoning you with their tongues. That'll likely be a while, but well worth it. I'm debating though on if the modern myths should just go in an FAQ instead of having a whole seperate thing.
