Well, a few years ago I bought a bellydancing instructional DVD--I've always been interested in taking lessons, but there isn't really anywhere near where I live that offers lessons.

When I moved out to Eastern MA for school, one of the grad students here had been taking lessons for awhile and she taught "Bellydancing for Beginners" at the gym one night a week. I jumped at the chance and it -really- was a lot of fun. It's very empowering and it makes you feel really good about yourself (until you end up on YouTube ).

Our instructor graduated that Spring, though...so no bellydancing classes for me since. Though, I suppose being so close to Boston, I could find an actual class if I had the money to do so

Seriously, if you can find a place to take classes, I'd suggest it. Bellydance is amazing--it doesn't discriminate. It's about a woman's body in a very positive way...it doesn't matter if you're thin or fat or what the color of your skin is. Just very awesome.

You know, I actually have been talking about taking a class, I know there are several in my area. I may just go ahead and find one to start, I really did like your youtube.

That brings me back... I went to an international school with 200 students representing 91 countries. Every year we'd do a big show exhibiting different dances, songs, music, etc from around the globe. Didn't hurt that we were all 17-19... what a great age

Aleesha (Recycling Goddess) does belly dancing as well. I'd love to see a video of her, too! It really does look like a lot of fun and great exercise....I might like to try that someday, too... (I'll bet my hubby wouldn't even mind paying for it... )
