    Hides!!

How important is to have two identical hides? My snake prefers to be on the colder side hide but sometimes she goes on the hot side. My temperature are 91 and 82 please help…..Thanks

    Re: Hides!!

Well your temps are good, I'm not an expert but as for hides, my guy loves plants he spends all day chilling behind plants instead of in hides, so I made him little cave entrances into the bushes and he loves it.

What kind of hides are you useing now?

The logic behind matching hides is, you dont want him to dislike one hide and so spend all his time on the hot side even if he needs to cool down. or vice versa.

Sorry i mean "her" you have a girl snake

If your snake is moving freely between the two hides and temperature zones...I'd say you're fine. Matching hides is a preventative measure...not necessarily the only way to do it.

Here is the thing about identical hides if your BP have 2 identical hides he will chose either the cool or warm side to thermo-regulate his body.

However if they are different and one feels safer then the other, your BP will chose security over thermo-regulation.

I would highly recomend that they be identical or at least very simular. Meaning that your snake can touch all sides of the hide.

I would avoid live plants because the dirt that they are in could harbor bacteria. Fake hold up better and are easy to clean.
